Plans for Sokial

I have just uploaded a temporary message onto Sokial while I continue to work on it. Originally Sokial was a general forum community however due to inactivity as well as my interest in developing the site further, I have made plans for the site and am currently putting them into action.

Over the past month or so I have been working on it. I’m not giving away too much information right now on exactly what the site will contain however as you probably have already guessed it will be a social based site. There is still a lot of work to be done right now so don’t expect the site to be live anytime before mid September.

As for those of you who are interested in the project you are welcome to enter your email address on the Sokial front page. By adding your address I will keep you up to date with any important news regarding the project. You may also be chosen as a beta tester prior to the sites launch so you could be one of the first people to use it live.

If you have any comments or suggestions don’t hesitate to let me know.

I’m glad to see your pushing to do something more with the Sokial domain as the forum has been pretty much dead lately, and Python if you need help with anything let me know.

Well the Sokial forum started out good but then it really slowed down pretty much to a complete stop. I think that it’s a great domain name therefore I really want to make something of it.

By the way - I would like to thank all of those who were member of the Sokial forum. At one point Sokial was a great, active community and without you guys it wouldn’t be possible. So thanks!

It’s good to see that you’re pushing for something more than a forum.
It’s not uncommon for sites to fall apart when all they rely on is their forums.
Webmaster Post is pretty much dead these days as the owner is off playing World f Warcraft and the main site is neither use nor ornament.
Features like the blog system remain broken, which is a bit sad since blogging didn’t work when Bryant bought the site (seriously, it shouldn’t be that hard… I’ve built content delivery systems in PHP before and now I’m doing more complex stuff in Rails).

I do trust your skills more than Bryant’s (well, when you’re not dropping your nunchuks) and I like your style, which is a bit odd considering that you’re all for simple gradients and outlined text while 90% of my graphics are glossy.

You’re usually fairly good at promoting your stuff too (I did vow never to join another one of your sites, but I still ended up on Sokial).

If you need a hand or anything, just let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

Thanks for dropping by Nuvo. The original blog system I created for Webmaster Post (well, Dev Dreams) was very basic. Back then my PHP skills weren’t all that good so it was the first time I had tried something like that.

Although I don’t post at Webmaster Post much I do keep an eye on it to see how its doing. It is sad to see that it hasn’t taken off as I would have liked it to.

For me though the new Sokial will give me a chance to use all the skills and knowledge I have picked up by working on other sites in the past to create something which can be used by (hopefully) thousands of people worldwide.

Thanks to both of you for offering your help - Right now whilst the site is in its development stage (although I have done quite a lot) theres not much else to be done. If you know anyone who may be interested in being a beta tester then feel free to point them to Sokial.com to enter their email address. The more beta testers and initial users there are then the easier it will be to get the site kick started.
