New To Tech Reaches 1,000 Members

Posted in Web dev | April 23rd, 2007

As some of you may know I was the creator and original owner of the technology forum NewToTech. I sold it back last year when it had just a couple hundred registered users.

It has however now just passed the 1,000 member mark so a big congratulations to the new owners. Well done!

9 Domain Names For Sale

Posted in Web dev | April 18th, 2007

Hello,

I have these domain names and I simply don’t have a use for them. They are all registered at NameCheap. All domains are receiving a little traffic.

citizencity.com - Expires: 08/29/07
Was originally going to be an RPG game. Can be used for a social or community based site.

collegetoot.com - Expires: 08/22/07
I planned to use this for a college based social site.

dldir.com - Expires: 10/19/07
Stands for “download directory”. Was going to be a file download directory.

enelemuk.co.uk - Expires: 11/07/07
Was originally a translation company I developed for but they closed the company.

forumhacker.com - Expires: 07/25/07
Originally planned for this to be a forum script modification site for both phpBB and vBulletin.

forumskins.co.uk - Expires: 08/01/08
I planned to develop and sell forum skins but then realized I didn’t have the time.

hostdash.com - Expires: 05/17/07
Used to be a hosting directory. When live it had a couple hundred submissions with new ones daily. Great for a directory or even a web host company.

newstoot.com - Expires: 05/23/07
Was going to be a news posting site. Could be used for sites similar to Digg where users “toot” stories.

xalized.com - Expires: 01/16/08
Not too sure what I had in mind for this domain. Its a fairly general domain which could be used for almost anything.

I don’t have a set price for any of them therefore if you are interested please send me your offers. You can contact me here.

Thanks

A previous install did not complete correctly. Finishing Install.

Posted in Tech | April 18th, 2007

Because of some problems with both Firefox and Mozilla (they were having trouble updating to the latest version) I decided to uninstall them both and reinstall.

So I did exactly that but came into another problem with Thunderbird. After reinstalling it every time I tried to launch it I was getting a message box with the following:

“A previous install did not complete correctly. Finishing Install.”

After a little playing around I managed to fix it. If your having the same problem do the following:

  1. Uninstall Thuderbird
  2. Delet the “Mozilla Thunderbid” directory where it was installed
  3. Reinstall Thunderbird

That should fix it - It worked for me anyway.

Webmaster-Talk - A Great Community

Posted in Web dev | April 17th, 2007

Have you ever been working on a bit of PHP code and suddenly your screen is filled with errors? That’s something which happened to me quite a while back which is what led me to Webmaster-Talk. I was looking for help with my PHP script errors and tried a number of webmaster forums.

I had a reply on each of the forums I posted on however WMT really stood out from the crowd. The users who helped me were friendly and really did get me back on track by explaining exactly what was wrong with my code. Within minutes of applying what the WMT members had suggested I was well on my way to finishing the script.

Ok so by now your probably wondering why Im telling you about this. Its simply because I would like to let you all know about a great webmaster community which has helped me in the past many times. Its the least I can do for them. So if your having a trouble with virtually any webmaster related problem and want to speak to friendly people in an active and welcoming community I highly recommend heading over to the WMT forums - You wont regret it.

Visit them now!

Worlds Strangest Buildings

Posted in General | April 16th, 2007

I just recently came across a story submitted in Digg which showed some of the highest and most spectacular bridges in the world. Some of these bridges were just insane. Because of my need to post random things I have decided to gather a few photos from around the internet of some of the worlds strangest buildings. I don’t know the exact locations of these but if you do feel free to comment.
